Our January Kitchen and Family Room

It always seems a bit sparce at first but it also feels nice to have a clean slate. I am thinking about adding some pops of color in here soon but for now here is what it looks like. Ignore the color of the pizza paddle hanging on the wall. I had just purchased it the day before I took these pictures and hung it on the wall to see if I liked it there. I ended up staining it a few hours after I took these pictures and it looks much better now. I also hung our wire chandelier from our old house above the kitchen table the day after I took these pictures so I will try to take a few more soon. I wasn't sure I liked it at first, but it has grown on me and I think I will end up keeping it there until it comes time to figure out what I'm doing out of the porch which is where I plan on it eventually going.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; Our guest room is completely painted and the furniture all in place I am just waiting on the new light fixture to arrive (it's supposed to be here today - yay!) and I need to add a few more accessories. Our master bedroom is midway through being painted right now so it's a total disaster. I finished up painting the trim yesterday but still need one more coat on the windows and then I will attack the doors (there are SIX doors - ugh!) and then walls.  I thought I would share some photos of what some of the other rooms look like now with all the Christmas decorations put away. I just added a couple of Target pillows and pulled our Love is Patient Pillow Set back out. I added some dried hydrangeas from the fall to the chest behind the sofa and put our two amaryllis plants on the mantel. Yay! Last week our new light fixture arrived and the following day I hung it with help from a couple of the women's basketball players. I have hung most of the ones in this house that I've switched out myself (well, if you don't count Lillie - haha!) so I have to say it was really nice having a 6'3" helper holding the weight of the chandelier while I wired it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I ordered the smaller size but it still is a bit bigger and has a bit more "bling" than I was expecting (which probably sounds silly seeing how I knew what it looked like when I ordered it) but in real life it has taken a bit of time to adjust to it. Haha! I originally planned on going with a lantern in here but the more I stared at how it would look from the angle where you could see the chandelier in our dining room I realized the lantern I  liked really wouldn't coordinate very well with that so I went a completely different direction. I thought this one would coordinate well with it, and I do think that but it is a bit more of a statement piece than I was planning on getting for the entryway - whoops! I know I haven't blogged much these last couple of weeks but I promise I haven't been asleep on the job! =) I got our new light fixture hung in the entryway last week and took some photos of it yesterday and then plan on taking some pictures of our living room and kitchen later this morning and I am almost ready to photograph our new guest bedroom - I cannot wait to show you that. The painting is finally done, the bed is set up and made, and the curtains are hung, I am just waiting on a few more little touches like deciding on a light fixture and rug and then I will get that photographed. I may try to take a few sneak peek shots today of that too, though. And now we've started painting our master bedroom - I am really really excited with what we finally decided on doing in there (I changed my mind a million times). I've also been working on some Valentine chalk art, and a little Valentine's decorating seeing how my girls think the house is very boring now without the Christmas decorations up. =) So, this week I plan on getting back on track blogging.<br /><br />For today though, here are a few pictures of my little sleeping beauty.
